Outside the lab, these are a few of the things that take up my time and attention.
I love collecting books and sharing knowledge, and over the years I have built a good personal collection back home. Now that I am away on study leave for higher education, I did not want those books to sit unread, so I built a website where approved members can browse my physical collection, request up to two books at a time, and borrow the printed copies as usual. Friends and well-wishers are also welcome to donate books to it.
None of this would be possible without my parents, who hand the books over to members once I approve each request. My heartfelt thanks to them for keeping the knowledge moving.
Long before Bayesian optimization, I was chasing identities in number theory and linear algebra for their own sake. That habit produced a peer-reviewed paper deriving a new recurrence relation for Bernoulli numbers from the power-sum of natural numbers — still the piece of work I'm proudest of outside my main field:
I care about what happens back home and show up for it — organizing and joining demonstrations with the Bangladeshi community, including protests against authoritarianism and in solidarity with students during Bangladesh's 2024 uprising.
Outside my formal training in materials science, my thinking has been shaped by Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi's writing — I'm a great admirer of his literature, and its approach to ethics, society, and systems of thought has stayed with me more than any single course or textbook.
A few talks I've given — click to watch in-page:
A lifelong cricket fan and player — it's the game I grew up with in Bangladesh, and still the easiest way to get me away from a screen on a weekend.
A few posts I've shared on LinkedIn:
Open a folder to browse; click a file to read it here.
Browse my personal collection below. To request a book, create an account — I approve new members personally. Approved members can request up to 2 books at a time, in one request. You can also donate books to the library — no account needed.

I'll review your request and email you. Once approved, please collect your book(s) within 7 days, or the request is cancelled automatically. Borrowed books are due back within a month.
Prefer to read right now? Alongside the printed books, I keep a collection of e-books you can browse and read online, free and with no account needed.
Have books you would like to share? Donations are warmly welcome — members and non-members alike, no account needed. I review every offer personally and will email you. Click the button to fill in a short form.
